As we sat down to watch the premier of 24 on Sunday night, I remembered a line I had seen somewhere. It read along the lines, “No matter how sucky your day might be, Jack Bauer is most definitely having a worse one.” And how true is that? I don’t think I’ve ever known anyone who deals with bad days to the magnitude or frequency as Jack Bauer. And yes, I do know he’s a fictional character… but it got me thinking…

I was remembering when Craig was dealing with anxiety 5 years ago a relative sharing¬† his experience with depression and anxiety. He told me about how when he was at his worst God lead him to change his focus. To get his eyes off of himself and onto someone else… to throw his life into loving and serving and praying for that individual. Which I think is really cool… and that got me thinking…

What if every year instead of making a New Years resolution for yourself, you made it for someone else. You know, instead of resolving to eat well you resolved to bake something for someone else once a week. Or instead of saving money to go on a vacation you decided to give that money to a cause you believe in. Or simple to pray daily for someone… and that got me thinking…

I have a friend I feel extremely connected to spiritually, even if we don’t speak or see each other all that often. She’s going through a rough time and she has been on my heart. I am so blessed that God lead her to call me today and allowed me to pray with her about her life. And I can honestly say I think that did more good for me than a nap today. And that got me thinking…

I think it’s time for a cup of tea so I can make it until bedtime. And perhaps a few chocolate chips… yes. That will be nice.¬† Time to stop thinking.

Beautiful thinking here T. Minirth Meier Clinic founder Frank Minirth, or was it Paul Meier, well, one of them once had a wonderful suggestion for anxiety (but I wonder if it would be a blessing for us thinkers too…actually I am an equal opportunity person, both over-thinking AND anxiety prone at times) anywho…he suggested taking a set amount of time daily–15 minutes for example and if you are worrier, you are to set aside that time for your worrying for the day. After the 15 minutes…get up and go. It sounds really silly, but … I wonder if it would be helpful for the thinking too. I’ll have to try it. Hello…what about those silly people who read someone else’s blog entry, think they’re responding to it but are really processing something of their own??? Thanks for being such a sweet daughter and letting me share <3 love u
