I love my chalkboard. I love that the top half is mine- instant blank canvas when I’m feeling the need to doodle. I love that its right in the middle of the house and that you can’t avoid what is up there. You have to see it and I love that the girls can read now and they do. I can see the words sinking into their minds and hopefully their hearts.

This is my interpretation of Deuteronomy 6:

4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. [a] 5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7  Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

I have done more verses that I have failed to photograph, the last one being Psalm 119:11 “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” It was such a thrill to hear Layla say those memorized words so assuredly when that was our verse of the day at VBS.

I feel like this is an incredibly simple way I can keep His word on their minds as my littles are bombarded messages that I can’t really control outside of the home. At least when they come back to our little haven they will be instantly told of God’s love and grace.

T~ I love this. I really want to be more purposeful about posting (and memorizing) verses! This is great! We are painting a chalkboard in the toy room for school. I have had the paint since we moved in here over 3 years ago! Ha! I would love a chalkboard in my kitchen though.

You’ve definitely got the perfect spot for your verses (and I like the flowers, sheep, etc. too!!!) That spot is like a special delivery of Love Notes from God to you! It was a fabulous idea in the first place T!!! Next time you write on it, would you write some hugs and kisses from us to you guys somewhere on the bottom half? Love you!
