Presidents Day, 2011.

I always remember to not go to the mall on Presidents Day. It’s too crowded. I played the “it snowed last night” card with the girls this morning and we had a great Monday home. Video games, Newsies, pizza (GREAT, fast dough recipe), make believe, video games and the girls have finished the night off watching Despicable Me in a fort on Layla’s bottom bunk. I finished off the night by making chocolate peanut butter cupcakes (without an egg! I was down to only one and do you know how hard it is to find a cupcake recipe without eggs? Not as hard as I thought! Thanks Joy!) and I am now crashing with a cup of tea from my sugar high.

As I am coming to the end of my pretty cupcake liner stash, I spent a few minutes browsing Cupcake Social on Etsy tonight, and loving every minute. And then pretty paper made me think of pretty fabric which lead me to my favorite fabric shop, Hawthorne Threads.  Here I dream of twirly days in sunshine and colorful aprons in the kitchen from A is for Apron.

I love these things. I love the beautiful colors and the swirling flavors. I am thankful, intensely thankful for them. I love them for how they make life more vibrant, these sweet, vibrant, glorious creations of our hands, the hands that God fashioned in his image. I so desperately need to remember that these things are not frivolous, God has created our minds to create and to seek beauty. And when I do these things as acts of love to those in my life, then I am at His work.

And let the loveliness of our Lord, our God, rest on us,
confirming the work that we do.
Oh, yes. Affirm the work that we do!

Ps. 90:17

    I love pretty things too. I am haveing so much trouble understand the role the pretty things have in my life now, though. It is a weird place to be in.
    Nonetheless, I liked this post. {grin}
