God uses daylights savings time. As I lie awake, wide awake, I know what this time is for. I know he will sustain me more than sleep. Even though 6AM will come as soon as my eyes close to sleep. I think of a new journal, empty but full of possibility.  A thought to a friend. An insecurity. A child. Urgency.

Suddenly, a dream from last night floods back. I dreamed someone was trying to wake me, communicate through the fog of sleep. Come on! Wake up!

I roll over.

Did I miss it? Did I miss Him? A chance to come before the throne. Was there a vigil I failed to keep?

I pray I will not fail again.

Here I am, Lord. It is I.

Isaiah 62:6
I’ve posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem. Day and night they keep at it, praying, calling out, reminding God to remember. They are to give him no peace until he does what he said, until he makes Jerusalem famous as the City of Praise.

Just read this quote by Eugene Peterson from the book WORKING THE ANGLES. “Prayer is answering speech. The first word is God’s word. Prayer is a human word and is…never the initiating and shaping word simply because we are never first, never primary.”
I’ve been thinking a lot about prayer and the fact that God is always the Initiator of things. He whispers into our hearts to pray. Love that. <3 to you xoxo
