I suppose my elation over over the commencement of springtime is more than obvious. Today I was absolutely singing as I wiped the ickyness off my siding and porch roof (or at least what I could reach!) Just being outside and soaking in the sun just has me singing praises. For lo, the winter has passed, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth. The time of singing has come! (Song of Solomon 2)

The past week or two have just felt so easy in comparison to the darkness that dragged down the winter days. I am thankful though to head into next winter with a bit more knowledge of how my body functions and be able to prepare for that time. Seasonal depression is not something I like for me or my family, but if I’m going to deal with it, I’m going to tackle it straight on from the first frost!

But all that is so far away now and there are months of sun and tank tops and flowers ahead! I am only 5-10 pounds away from a size 8, but I’m having trouble busting through this plateau. Especially now that our beloved ice cream shop is open in town now… oooh boy =)

I think I’ll go and dig some more in the dirt now. I will leave you with some springtime gems to roll over in your head.

It’s spring fever.  That is what the name of it is.  And when you’ve got it, you want - oh, you don’t quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!  ~Mark Twain

I love spring anywhere, but if I could choose I would always greet it in a garden.  ~Ruth Stout

In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.  ~Margaret Atwood

The sun was warm but the wind was chill.
You know how it is with an April day.
~Robert Frost

So glad God has given you some wonderful sunny days! I do not suffer from seasonal depression (I am one of those freak-o’s that actually love the winter and hibernating in my home! lol), but I have a sister-in-law that suffers so much that she and her family moved to Florida. Not a fun thing. Have you heard of a light therapy box?? That might be helpful. As well as stocking up on some vitamin D supplements for next year. :)
I am only a few pounds shy of an 8 too, but still feel like a slumpy post pregnancy Momma! lol Oh why does that silly number on our jeans matter sooo much??? Good luck on reaching your goal! You looked fabulous in your bridesmaid dress!!
    Have a wonderful day!
I so enjoy your blog. :)

And I’ll add one of my favourites:

    “The sun is up
    The sky is blue
    It’s beautiful
    And so are you.”
    ~The Beatles

Thanks for the recipe - it sounds a lot like these Taco Turnovers I make (one of our favourties - taco meat & seasonings, cheese wrapped up totally in a crescent roll, cheese sprinkled on top, baked until golden and full of yummy melted goodness!

    Hey Tiffany!
I have heard about the light therapy. It’s on my list for desperate measures lol
This year I did a lot to keep my endorphins up and made sure that the shades were always open during the day and regularly took St. Johns Wort. That seemed to help and hopefully I can manage it better in the future! Sometimes just realizing what is “wrong” in your brain helps!

You have lost so much weight in just a short amount of time! That is amazing! It has taken me 5 years to get back to pre-prego weight! I guess 2 births in an 18 month period will do it :o) and delicious cookies! I know that the size shouldn’t matter, but I have longed after those single digit jeans for so very long now!! :o) If I reeeeeeally suck in my gut I can button it, but it’s not at all comfortable or attractive!

Aren’t quotes wonderful? There is something about the written word that just moves me and I love those little antidotes you can tuck into your mind.

I’m gonna be all over those Taco Turnovers!
